Chai-Spiced Turmeric Hot Milk

Updated: May 30, 2018

This recipe is directly inspired by  Stephanie Pollard and yields two generous teacups. The aroma and taste of this cuppa is warm and comforting, perfect for a mid morning break or as a substitute for a bedtime cocoa.

Ingredients:

240ml/1/2 pint almond milk 1/4 teaspoon chai spice mix 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon honey (or sweetener of your choice)

For the chai spice mix:

1 tsp of ground cardamom seed 1 tsp of allspice 1 tsp of ground cloves 2 tsps of cinnamon 3 tsp of ginger

Instructions:

1. Stephanie makes her own chai spice mix and you can do the same. Simply combine 1 teaspoon each ground cardamom seed, allspice and ground cloves, with 2 teaspoons cinnamon and 3 teaspoons ginger in a glass jar. Give it a good shake to mix everything together. This will give you enough for many drinks and will store well in an air tight jar. 2. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the almond milk with 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/4 teaspoon of the chai spice mix. Whisk to remove any lumps and let simmer for about a minute until the milk becomes nice and frothy. 3. Remove from heat and pour into a pretty teacup. Sweeten with honey and sprinkle with extra turmeric if desired.
