Updated: Mar 11, 2018

Hands up who likes dessert?

Sometimes after a meal you fancy a dessert but nothing too heavy or calorific. Pears are one of your five a day, so healthy and not too naughty. This is also a very quick and easy recipe.

Slow-cooked Pears

Serves 4 Preparation time: 5 minutes Cooking time: 2 hours

You will need:

4 firm conference pears, peeled, halved lengthwise and cored 50g of dried apricots roughly chopped 20g of dried cranberries Zest and juice of one large orange 1 tbsp of good clear runny honey (or agave syrup) 100g of plain Greek style yoghurt (coconut or soya yogurt) 50g of pistachios, roughly chopped

1. First arrange the pears cut side down on the bottom of the slow cooker and sprinkle over the apricots and cranberries

2. Mix together the orange zest, juice and honey, then pour over the pears. Cover and cook on high for two hours until the pears are tender

3. Serve 2 halves per person with a tablespoon of Greek yoghurt, a sprinkling of pistachios and a drizzle of the remaining cooking sauce
